Caro Remixes

I’ve done a few remixes this Spring, a couple of which are out now. The blow “Love That I Crave” remixes 12” on brand new Holocene Music imprint features two remixes by myself, one “slow” and one “fast,” and a great epic electro-house mix by Strategy.
I’ve been excited about my “Heart of the Sun” mix for the Juan McLean for a while. Some blogger has recorded the vinyl and posted it here, complete with pops and some distortion. So, while it’s not legal, you’re not getting the original quality and so the nice folks at DFA may turn a blind ear to this one for a while. On the other hand, considering how many fans of this music are likely to enjoy pops and some distortion, this may be just like giving the music away.
Another remix for the indie nation, this time for the band Of Montreal, is coming out later this Summer. Of Montreal, while capable of some very good songwriting, has built their career on a devotion to history I just don’t get. As if “Magical Mystery Tour” were some kind of high-water mark in musical history we should be content just to reach for, over and over. I thought a remix equally stuck in a different history would be appropriate, so I remade the structure and sonics of Aphex Twin’s “On” out of the melodic material in Of Montreal’s “My British Tour Diary.” Look for this one soon from the nice folks at Polyvinyl Records.
