Cascadian Weekend

Friday I spent the day spreading mulch in the elaborate urban-farm-type garden of a friend of the family (sort of my girlfriend’s aunt, except not really related, anyways...) and picking strawberries, doing various chores. We do this in exchange for produce and massage therapy.

I realized that the barter system is absolutely and totally futuristic. What could be a better way to celebrate a weekend of future Cascadian Independence than through non monetary transactions? Figure out what skills you can trade for and barter your way into our dollarless futures.

Nice to see a post from someone besides myself.  I had a great Fourth of July weekend in Vancouver with our North Cascadian friends.

We are picking MAD strawberries in the backyard.  The strawberry patch is about three feet from where they are digging huge holes for the new condos though.  Kind of weird.  I’ll try to take pics.

J and I went picking at Sauvie Island a week or two earlier, and I’d say Paul’s timing was good, as we saw a lot of unripe ones.  Our Cascadian sojourn ended up being a series of hikes around Mt Adams/St.Helens area.

R, glad to hear the strawberry picking is good!
