At first I thought it was funny, but near the end I realized there is a useful and powerful message within this video.

Yes.  It kind of sneaks up on you.  I caught more stuff the seond time around.  Dopplereffekt’s communications were all very intentional.

i’m not sure I get it entirely. Let me try to record what I see.

- We’re all born essentially equal, different colors get out of the starting gate at the same time.
- Life moves at a constant rate towards death, the same rate for everyone
- Taking ‘any kind of drug’ can imbalance your ‘spirit’
- An imbalanced spirit will cause an outward unhappiness when examine yourself
- Abstinence from ‘any kind of drug’ causes spiritual balance
- Spiritual balance causes an outward happiness during self-examination
- Spiritual imbalance causes a fear of death

this seems like bad anti-drug-abuse propaganda to me, or am I taking the ‘any kind of drug’ language too much in the drug-war sense of the term? Maybe they mean to include advil and viagra?

Yes Bryan,

I truly am in agreement with your analisys thus far and feel obligated to further intelectualize!!!
If one puts on the track “Voice Activated” from Dopplereffekt’s ambitiously entitled record “Gesamtkunstwerk"(Synthesis Of The Arts) no such analogies should occur unless one is a returning attendant of the Drug Abuse program held in the state of Oklahoma. Further confusion comes from the fact that this track is on the same playlist with titles such as “Plastiphilia”, “Pornoactress” and “Pornoviewer”. Another observation: judging by the diabolical look on his face in the very beginning of his journey, the red guy is born susceptible to unhealthy temptations and possibly even born a hopeless antagonist doomed for a fatal fall right at the end of the conveyor of life . What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Some people don’t stand a fucking chance? And yes, what about Advil? What is REALLY up with Advil, people? I dare call shenanigans on this video and attribute all the “messages” it carries to the Act of this fine electro project. And if Doppereffekt really meant to say anything important i would encourage them to consider dropping International Deejay Gigolo Records and perhaps seek contract with Facedown!!!

Many people are not willing to confront the reality that they will, inevitably, die someday.  They remain fearful of this fact, and their fear leads to solipsism and grasping at selfish pleasures which impede self-knowledge, the first step out of the fear.

Though it’s not always true that “any kind of drug” is bad for you, it’s usually true.  Viagra is a great example, it treats symptoms not underlying causes which are often psychological.  They probably couldn’t fit “any kind of drug that messes with your head, unless prescribed and monitored by an attending physician” on the pill.

Since Dopplereffekt is the #1 pop group on the scene today it’s good to see them putting this message out there for the kids.

P.S. : I’m still sticking to my position of calling shenanigans on this video(which the #1 pop group on the scene will use to send a positive message to the kids) coming off a record that also includes statements such as “I want to fuck a mannequin” or “I want to be a porno star”, however anecdotal these statements may be, and released on a record label that happens to be fueling the sex, drugs and rock’n’roll scene.

Oh come on guys, that is so obviously NOT a real Dopplereffekt video!

That LFO riff at the beginning reeks of the mid-90’s MTV’s “AMP” show, where they just made up some videos for cool songs that didn’t have them, but that had been licensed by dj dudes like Dave Clarke.  It doesn’t even resemble the video for Scientist that Dopplereffekt did.  That Dopplereffekt video featured them in lab coats and was far more DIY and cooler than that stupid CG shteez!

Also, DJ Hell’s Int’l Gigolos label was still just a twinkle in some distro’s eye at that point.  “Champaigne” had just come out and, heck, The Chairman (Frank) was still alive even!!  DJ Hell was still banging out techno on Disko B.  The Dopplereffekt rec came out on their own Dataphysix label and they’d not had the “Gusamt..” titled comp yet.  That was just a later comp for everyone that played the originals into the ground.  nyeah.  ;p

There was a similar cheesy 3d CGI video for I-F’s “I Do Because I Couldn’t Care Less” track on AMP.  I can’t imagine I-F having liked anything about it but the licensing cash.  It was horrible and didn’t even have a story, just some pulsing 3d shapes with camera angle moving around like someone said ‘let’s make a rave vid!’.

feh!
