You probably haven’t heard the first volume of the Ciao! America 12” series, released last year on the Seattle-based ORAC Records. And it’s a frickin’ shame, as ORAC are putting together an outstanding experimental boogie aesthetic. Volume one featured Cid+Eric’s swerving Funkstorung- and Cheap Records-invoking electro, Matt Corwine’s spare wah-guitar techno, Solenoid’s haywire electro, and Star-Polar’s Dot Records-style funk. Those craving more opaque moves should check the recently released second volume. which includes Coil-ish techno from War Dialer, atmospheric synth pop from Caro, and epic glitch from B Phenix. Just don’t lose sight of this label, because big things seem just around the corner.
