Seattle’s label of mystery ORAC spurts forth a deep-Latin quirky late-night electro-groove replete with haunting male whispers, beautiful 808 sinkholes, and spoken-word funk. Deceptively simple-sounding, this is complex percussive house, wickedly produced, Kraftwerk & Moroder inspired, and sincere to the core: overall fantastic dance music that refracts spirit & tension direct to the dancing body. While hinting at heritage (freeway-long basslines!), this is not rip-off electrocash: this is electro-house deconstructing disco—at its most inventive. Ben Nevile’s odd & “disintegrating” hi-hat remix drives the “Latin Black Shadow” into dubbed minimal-loop mode, ready to rock the casa anywhere.

“How Much I Feel” heisst es undversetzt jeden Dancefloor in ein sanftes Glimmen. Definitiv ein Hit.

The title track of Caro’s EP is a throbbing tune driven by hand claps, classic Euro electrodisco sounds, tech-house synth washes, and seductivespoken words by a mysterious Italian male with dashes of Latin percussionthrown in to spice up the mix. ben Nevile’s “Pink Shitkicker”remix pushes up the tempo a few BPMs and goes for a more modern dubbed-out feel. (Those unsatisfied with the remix can indulge their whims withthe a capella provided at the end of the A side.)
The B side, “How Much I Feel,” goes for a more soulful house feelwith its deep, sometimes processed R&B male vocals and acoustic guitar samples. It’s probably not much of an exaggeration to say that some fans of experimentalelectronic music tend to look down upon music that caters to the dancefloor, but it would be a shame if there were those who would missout on the sublime pleasures of Città Alla Notte because they thought that dance music was “dumb.”
